Lawn Aeration and Overseeding in Wedgwood & Northeast Seattle
In Wedgwood and Northeast Seattle I work on everything from small established city lawns to larger properties with mature trees and shaded turf. The details vary, but compaction and thinning grass are extremely common.
Core aeration is regular maintenance I recommend twice per year when practical. The machine removes plugs from the soil, reducing compaction and creating openings through the turf. Overseeding after aeration helps introduce new grass into areas where the existing stand has thinned.
Thatching is not routine maintenance
I do not recommend thatching simply because a lawn has a little moss or looks thin. Dethatching is much more disruptive than aeration. On a healthy lawn it may only be needed every two to four years, depending on conditions.
If the main issue is thin or patchy grass, Lawn Revival—aeration, overseeding and starter fertilizer—is usually where I start. If there is substantial moss or thatch that actually needs removal, then The Works adds the thatching step.
