Lawn Aeration and Lawn Revival in Edmonds, Lynnwood & Mountlake Terrace
Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace are right in the middle of the climate I work in every season. One of the most common things I see is a lawn that is not necessarily in terrible shape, but has become thinner, harder and less consistent over time.
That does not automatically mean it needs to be thatched. In many cases the better approach is core aeration followed by overseeding and starter fertilizer.
Why aeration helps
Foot traffic, mowing and normal use gradually compress the soil. Core aeration removes plugs rather than simply poking holes, creating temporary openings through the turf and into the soil. Those openings improve gas exchange and water movement and reduce the physical resistance roots face in compacted soil.
Overseeding at the same time introduces new grass into thinning areas. Because our lawns are primarily cool-season grasses, spring and fall are the periods I normally target for this work. I recommend aeration twice per year when possible. Aeration, overseeding and fertilizer twice per year is ideal if it fits the customer’s budget, or at least once per year.
Our Lawn Revival is designed around exactly that process. If the lawn also has a significant thatch or moss problem, The Works may be more appropriate.
